I, Nelson Ortega Toscano, was born on March 11, 1963, in Tibú, Norte de Santander, Colombia. Tibú is located on the border with Venezuela in the lush region of the Colombian Catatumbo. My artistic training is completely self-taught, starting from the age of five when I painted a portrait of my older sister. Since settling in Bogotá in 2000, I have devoted myself to refining my technique and developing my unique style, which has gained significant recognition within the art community through exhibitions held in prestigious venues across the capital. Currently, my artwork is displayed in various locations in the United States, Europe, and Asia, thanks to the representation provided by my art agents. They have played a pivotal role in establishing me as an internationally renowned artist.
